The laboratory of Pathology provides a complete range of anatomic and clinical diagnostic and consultation services. Some of the major areas of clinical research and teaching in the laboratory include immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, fine needle aspiration biopsy and surgical sectored pathology. The goal of Research is to extend the knowledge of the mechanisms of disease with focus on particular family of glycoproteins named galectins studied as markers of several tumors and pathology, using combined approach based on proteins and genomic analysis. The major fields include the development of new diagnostic and prognostic markers in gliomas, pulmonary and gut carcinomas.
